In an international context the stock of vacant and disused buildings and monuments grows exponentially in times of financial crisis. Is demolition and destruction of capital and cultural heritage the only solution? Or are there more sustainable, creative and innovative answers? What kind of ‘second life’ can you discover for the building and what are the spatial consequences? What is the relationship between what’s already there and what’s new?
