Challenging and empowering you to achieve your potential

Windesheim offers study programmes in fifty disciplines, with the emphasis on student-focused, practical education. In line with the needs of a knowledge-based economy, the university provides flexible learning opportunities that lead to broad-based qualifications. Windesheim is an outward-looking institute with a wide range of international programmes and a global dimension to all its activities. It is also an ethical community organisation, where you are challenged and empowered to develop into a responsible, principled and confident professional.

Exchange and mainstream programmes

As an international student, you can come to Windesheim either on an exchange, or to take part in one of our mainstream programmes. An exchange involves coming here for a short period of study away from an institute that you attend back home. Following a mainstream programme means making Windesheim ‘your’ university. Windesheim also has an Honours College, which operates separately and has its own website .

Progressive and effective methods

Windesheim uses progressive and effective educational methods, such as 'learning to learn' and 'personal professional development'. The form that they take varies from one programme to the next. More and more programmes follow the demand-based learning concept. The content of the first and second years is largely fixed, but you are free to choose what you study in depth during your third and fourth years.

The Dutch approach

Personal and professional development

Windesheim aims to do more than help you acquire knowledge and skills. At our university, you will have the opportunity to develop as a person and as a professional. To help you do so, the university provides ample support and guidance. As well as specific assistance from lecturers and specialists, you will have a counsellor to help with your student career. If ever the need arises, you can turn to a psychologist or chaplain.
